Indeed, whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth, even the fish in the sea ask for forgiveness from the pious. And indeed the scholars are the heirs of the prophets.
It was narrated by Abu Dhar that the Messenger of Allah said: That your journey to learn one chapter of the Book of Allah is better for you than praying a hundred rak'ahs, and your journey to teach a chapter of knowledge - put that knowledge into practice or not - is better for you than praying a thousand rak'ahs. And whoever learns a chapter of knowledge to be taught to others will be rewarded with seventy prophets. Whoever sits in front of a scholar for an hour or two, hears a word or two from him, eats a bite or two together and/or walks together a step or two, Allah will grant him two heavens, each heaven is twice as big as the world.
Said Ibn Abbas ra: That the position of the ulama is higher than the believers by seven hundred degrees, between every two degrees over the course of five hundred years.
The Messenger of Allah said: Virtue and glory in this world and the hereafter accompanies knowledge and a pious person is more afdhal before Allah than a thousand martyrs.
